The sampling process transforms sketches, reference garments, mood boards, or technical specifications into a physical prototype. It allows every important detail to be reviewed before committing materials, time, and budget to bulk production.
At Istanbul Factory, we carefully evaluate the design, measurements, fabric, trims, construction methods, and intended fit before developing the first sample. Depending on the project, this process may include pattern development, prototype samples, fit samples, revised samples, and pre-production samples.
During fitting and evaluation, we examine the garment’s proportions, silhouette, balance, comfort, and construction. Elements such as sleeve shape, body length, collar structure, pocket placement, rib tension, seams, and closures can be adjusted until the desired result is achieved.
Fabric behaviour is also reviewed throughout the sampling stage. Weight, stretch, drape, shrinkage, surface appearance, and compatibility with printing or embroidery can directly affect the final garment. Testing these elements early helps prevent costly changes during production.
All necessary corrections are documented and applied to the pattern and technical specifications. Once the fit, materials, construction, and visual details are approved, a final pre-production sample can be prepared as the reference standard for bulk manufacturing.
